The mission of the Columbia Police Department’s Hospitality Team is to promote public safety for the business districts. The team encourages a proactive interaction partnership between business owners and managers in order to develop a safe and successful atmosphere for businesses, citizens, and visitors in Columbia. This collaborative effort assists in identifying problem areas and address concerns which brings a positive resolution and enhances safety in the business communities.
Hospitality Team Goals
The Hospitality Team goal is to work closer with business and the business management association to resolve area challenges in their districts. Also, the team is to reduce the negative barriers which restrict a business operation. In addition, the team encourages an equal operating field for all business. The team serves as an overseer to restaurant and bar establishments to reduce underage drinking, ensure compliance with fire codes, zoning encroachments and licensing regulations. The team is tasked to positively impact a business area and rid it of vagrants, panhandlers and transient thieves.
Equally enforce the city codes as they relate to any City business.
Partner with SLED to make sure all alcohol laws are enforced to discourage underage drinking.
